What is the Silver Chain Challenge?

The Silver Chain Challenge is a friendly competition between Renfrew County and Lanark County to inspire and promote more active and healthier communities. It takes place throughout the month of June 2015, which is the third year of this annual competition.

Renfrew County will be welcoming this friendly challenge from Lanark County to compete for the most number of kilometres biked over the month of June. While accepting this challenge, we would like to raise the bar and invite all Renfrew County residents and visitors to dust off their bikes, put on their shoes and participate in any form of active transportation.

This is the third year that Lanark County is issuing the challenge to Renfrew County. In support, our partners at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute are promoting and challenging both counties to be more active for healthier hearts and stronger communities.

Lanark County won the coveted Warden's Plate in 2013 for logging the most cycling points; however, Renfrew County recorded the highest level of participation overall. Then Renfrew County came back stronger to take the plate in 2014. So we are all winners! Who will come out on top for 2015?
